JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Network Engineer, working under the direction of the Manager, Network Services, is responsible for managing network operations, including network administration as required, implementing and maintaining the network, and supporting network infrastructure evolution and development.

• Manages operation of the network to ensure a stable, responsive and available environment, and to provide cost effective network services. They continuously monitor the network and identify potential and actual problems. They maintain network security and tune the network's performance. They also assist the Manager with network reporting.
• Implements and maintains the network, installing and repairing network equipment as required. They are responsible for MACs for network equipment and also perform preventative maintenance. They configure network equipment, contribute to infrastructure design and optimization. In addition, they maintain and update network documentation.
• Provides second and third-level support for the network. They troubleshoot network hardware and software problems and coordinate with vendors, when required, to resolve problems.
• Will be involved and/or lead projects related to network services deployments, Microsoft services, and other application services implementations.

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum eight years of IT network work experience
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure components (e.g., firewalls, routers, hubs)
• Experience with networking tools (e.g., sniffers, analyzers)
• Minimum six years experience with Microsoft Windows networking and HP hardware
• MCSE and CCNA certification
• Microsoft Exchange management experience
• VMware ESX management experience
• SAN infrastructure management experience
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment
